Annual Conference

HECMA Members and Colleagues,

On behalf of the HECMA leadership team, I am writing to announce the decision to make our 2021 HECMA Annual Conference a fully virtual experience. Over the past months, the leadership team has considered many options, but ultimately, given that many of our members have reported institutional and personal constraints related to travel and finances, and given the current landscape of global health, we determined this was the best path forward. We are already working on the development of #HECMA2021, and while it will certainly seem different, we are dedicated to provide as many moments for connection among colleagues as possible.

In addition, we are focused on enhancing the delivery of robust content so that best practices can still be shared in the virtual environment in the most engaging ways possible. Please note that the dates of the conference will remain the same June 29 – July 1. In the coming weeks, please look for additional communication regarding the 2021 HECMA Annual Conference, including the opening for program submission and registration.

I am also thrilled to announce that thanks to the leadership of Dr. Jacqui Tisdale, Vice President, Conferences and Special Events, we have been able to reach an agreement with our host facility in Portland, Oregon to host the 2023 HECMA Annual Conference.

For those of you eager for additional professional development and connection, I would encourage you to register for our upcoming training: Adapting the Anti-Oppressive Advocacy(TM) Framework: Interrogating efficiency at the intersection of bias and service provision. I continue to be so proud of the work case managers are doing during such uncertain times. Thank you for your continued support of and engagement with HECMA. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to any member of our leadership team. We are excited to see you virtually in June 2021!

Sincerely,

Carrie Smith, Ph.D.

2020-2022 HECMA President
