Paul Tongsri

Paul Tongsri serves as Director for Student Care and Outreach at Elon University, a private, mid-sized university in central North Carolina. In his role, Paul oversees the “support arm” of the Dean of Students, helping to support students in need while collaborating with others to identify policies and practices that better assist students’ overall wellbeing and opportunities for success. Paul coordinates the university’s Care Team while participating on the Behavioral Intervention Team. In addition to his director role, Paul also serves as adjunct faculty member in Elon’s Masters of Higher Education program, teaching a course on Law in Higher Education.

Paul has participated and volunteered with HECMA since 2015 and chaired the Operations and Quality Improvement Chair. In this role, Paul assisted in the development of HECMA Program Evaluation Rubric and HECMA Assessment Cookbook, along with other special projects. Paul was recognized shortly after for his volunteerism with the HECMA Leadership Award.

Paul holds a bachelor’s degree from Longwood University in Mathematics, a master’s degree from the University of Maryland in College Student Personnel, and a law degree from North Carolina Central University. Prior to his work with Elon, Paul served as a case manager with NC State University and as a Residence Coordinator with Duke University.
